Panasonic 3D TV Launch Starts

Panasonic will be introducing its wide range of 3D TVs come this Wednesday.  In a partnership with with Best Buy it plans to offer great deals to push the new technology. You will be able to pick up a 50 inch model for about $2,500 US dollars.

Panasonic hopes to sell 500,000 3D TVs in the United States alone during its first year of launch.  That comprises of 50 percent of their annual global sales target. Panasonic is hoping that this joint promotion with Best Buy will improve their market presence since Best Buy will do their part by setting up special sections and booths at its retail outlets for prospective customers to try out Panasonic's 3D TVs.

TV Manufacturers Start to Go Green

Philips 42PFL5603D 42 INCH LCDOne of the most impressive Green HDTVs launched this year at CES electronics super show. It was the Philips 42PFL5603D 42-inch LCD that stole the show which promptly won the “Best In Show” award. The Philips 42PFL5603D not only looks great but it will easily stand apart from the general looking HDTVs. It packs a very serious punch with features and specifications behind it’s good looks. With a full HD 1080p LCD screen for a full 1920×1080 pixels for the very highest HD format then add the boost the lowest power consumption for a HDTV this size by far. Philips is calling this new line of televisions Eco TV’s, as they are very energy efficient, by using just 75 watts during operation, and only 0.15 watts during standby. An average HDTV of this size, or even smaller typically uses anywhere between 175-300 watts.

You can also feel safe that other environmentally friendly features include lead free components and recycled packaging. Back before there were plasma screen and liquid crystal display (LCD) tubes, we were all watching our hockey games and soaps on cathode ray tubes CRT models. The CRT model provided room for all your switches and wires in a box behind the screen, but it also stored a lot of lead with philips new approach this will no longer be the case. 

Approximately 20 % of CRT TV’s are comprised of lead, equivalent to between four and eight pounds per unit. New standards will soon require all televisions to run a digital signal by February 19, 2009 so we could be looking at a lot of lead headed for landfills. Even the smallest amounts of lead can be a serious issue, and we’re talking about eight pounds of lead per tv. 

Samsung’s NEW PN58A650 58″ widescreen plasma HDTV

SAMSUNG mostly known for their LCD TV’s has started to roll out some plasmas. The new plasma TV’s feature the exclusive Touch of Color design. While its nothing really technical it adds a hint of color that is naturally blended into the frame ending with a really stunning look. The SAMSUNG PN58A650 offers much more than style and good looks. You will enjoy bold colors, amazing picture clarity, and true very close to life images. Its just stunning how good it looks. Your movies and TV shows will come to life with the 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Thats a whole lot of zeros. And with a 100,000 hour panel life, you’ll enjoy your SAMSUNG plasma HDTV for years to come. We will be reviewing this TV shortly. We are currently waiting for our review copy. While our review copy won’t be the 58 inch it will be the [ PN50A650 ] 50” widescreen plasma HDTV and i think thats big enough as it is.

Now that Samsung is coming out with the PN58A650 any day now. It will be the replacement for the 58A550. The FP-T5884 is a bit  older model. It may be somewhat confusing since both are listed on the Samsung site.  If you were thinking of getting the Panasonic Th-58PZ700U you may just want to wait untill you see the PN58A650 in person.

A first look at the Samsung HL-T5689S. This is truly amazing the HL-T5689S also comes with a ultra thin, piano black bezel like a lot of samsungs monitors. The huge 56″ screen lets you enjoy more screen and less frame. Its slim and sleek depth, light weight and truely hidden speaker system allow the set to fit where other tv sets just won’t. I can’t wait to get a look at this new samsung set myself. Samsung’s Cinema Smooth light engine delivers a crazy bright range of brilliant vibrant colors and with a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio that  can render every picture in next to perfect detail, from the darkest blacks to brightest whites, and every color tone in between. This new TV comes with SRS TruSurround XT  that delivers sound clear and full. You can also watch two shows at the same time using the one tuner PIP feature. It comes stacked with three HDMI inputs in version 1.3 to render your digital movies, photos and more with greater color depth, while a USB 2.0 ( sorry no firewire) port and other inputs allow full device connectivity. The HLT generation of Samsung DLP HDTVs are capable of displaying future 3D games, movies, and other programming via 3D compatible glasses and hardware. So if your a big Stereo3D fan like i am you will love this tv. If you never played a Stereoscopic race car game with special nvidia drivers and glasses on your computer. You really don’t know what your missing. This TV sounds like a great all-in-one and it will last the test of time. It seems like we are seeing LED light technology more and more everyday and its for the better.
